Marie DeGrandi Pivirotto, 94, of Blacksburg, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at The Crossings of Blacksburg. She was born in Bridgeport, Conn., the daughter of the late Louis and Estelle Franchi DeGrandi. A graduate of Saint ElizabethCollege in Morristown, N.J. with a degree in Biology , she was a Bacteriologist and taught school. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert J. Pivirotto.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Edward William Pivirotto, Sr.; sons and daughters-in-law, James W. and Faith Pivirotto of Shelburne, Vt., Helen Pivirotto of Morris, Conn., Edward W. Pivirotto, Jr. and his fianc, Filomena Pistoia of South Windsor, Conn., and Michael A. and Judy Pivirotto of Bluffton, S.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Mary P. and Arnie Bohanan of Radford; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph E. and Audrey Batt of Greenville, S.C.; 11 grandchildren, Nicole, Christopher, Christina, Katherine, Arnie, Jr. (Samantha), Matthew (Stephanie), Victoria, Brock, Kristy (David), Joshua (Tracy) and Thomas (Elizabeth); 2 great grandchildren, Isabelle and William; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff of The Crossings at Blacksburg for the excellent care provided to Marie during her stay there.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Jarek Nowacki officiating. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. at the church.
