Margaret Edna Kelly Roberson died Thursday, January 6, 2011 at her home in Radford. She was a courageous and active woman whose life was filled with the love of friends and family. The daughter of Edna and Jeff Kelly, Marge was born on December 8, 1926 in Clinchburg, Virginia. She had two brothers, John Davis and William Edgar Kelly. She grew up and was educated in Washington County, Virginia. Marge is a graduate of Emory and Henry College and earned her Masters Degree at Radford College. Marge touched the lives of countless children as a teacher and librarian in the Radford Public Schools for over 30 years. She enjoyed playing bridge and scrabble, ballroom dancing, entertaining, reading, and gardening. She enjoyed organizing the Lamplighters Book Sales at the Radford Public Library for many years. She was a devoted and active member of Grove United Methodist Church in Radford. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Robbie (Gorman Carlyle) Roberson. Marge is survived by her daughter, Kathy Roberson Bonazzi and her husband Bob of Princeton Junction, New Jersey; her son Stephen Carlyle Roberson and his wife Leslie of Blacksburg; and her son Frank Kelly Roberson and his wife Carol of Woodinville, Washington. She is survived by her nine grandchildren: Annie, Mike, and Steve Bonazzi; James Narramore, Andrew and Davis Roberson, and Conor, Kayla, and Kyle Roberson; great-grandchildren Ella Bonazzi, and Lucas and Jason Bonazzi. She is also survived by her devoted companions, Cecilia Butler and Rebecca Fabiyi and her daughter Promise, who made it possible for Marge to live at home and remain active during this last year. The family will receive friends at 1:00 on Sunday, January 9th at Grove United Methodist Church. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 with burial at Sunrise Burial Park after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Radford High School Foundation in memory of Marge and Robbie Roberson, P.O. Box 2823 Radford, VA 24141.
