Obituary

Malcolm J. Romain passed away August 12, 2014 in Albequerque, NM. At the time of his death, Senior Airman Malcolm J. Romain was serving in the United States Air Force at Kirtland Air Force Base. He was a communication/navigation journeyman of the 58th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Aircraft Maintenance Unit 550. Malcolm graduated with honors from Pulaski County High School in 2011. While in high school, he was a member of the National Honor's Society, and the Tennis Team. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Malcolm was born on November 21, 1992 the son of Beverly Neel Romain of Bogalusa, LA; and Eric Romain and wife Kimberly Everett Romain of Woodruff, SC. He is also survived by three sisters, Alisha M. Romain of Radford, Tashawna Hope Romain of Laurens, SC, and Morgan Forrester of Greenville, SC; stepbrothers Tyler and Chase Hunter of Woodruff, SC; his second family, whom he resided with during his high school years, Uncle David Neel and wife Holly and cousins Brandon and Madison Neel, all of Radford. He was also survived by his only niece, Zoey Elizabeth Hall of Radford.; two grandmothers, Betty Carol Neel of Spartanburg, SC and Cora Stevenson of Laurens, SC; aunt Jamie Willis and husband Marvin of Spartanburg, SC; uncle Stephen Romain and wife Karen of Woodruff, SC; cousins Tyler, Chase and Kayla Willis, and Kristen, Stephanie and Jerome Romain. He also left behind numerous great aunts and uncles. Malcolm was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather David Nelson Neel, paternal grandfather Walter Romain, step grandfather William Stevenson, great grandparents, Jack and Doris Neel, and Hallie and Carrie Wilson. The family will receive friends at Mullins Funeral Home on Thursday, August 21, from 5-7p.m., followed by a funeral service at 7p.m. Full Graveside Military Rights will be conducted at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, VA, on Friday, August 22, at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hunters Helping Kids NRV, c/o Shelia Smith, 6993 Morgan Farm Road, Radford, VA 24141. The Romain family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
