Lydia W. Carden, 80, of Floyd, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 9, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Cynthia Wood and was also preceded in death by two brothers Harold and Kent Wood, and two sisters Ruth Weeks and Ann Dalton. She is survived by four daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Carden of Floyd, Lynn Carden of Virginia Beach, Cathy Higgins of Blacksburg, and Monica Carden and David Quesenberry of Dublin; one son and daughter-in-law, Clint and Jean Carden of Floyd; six grand children and seven great grand children. The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Mayo and his staff for the many years of wonderful care they gave to Mom; also, to the staff of Carilion Hospice for the care and love that they gave to Mom in her final months. In fulfillment of Mom's wishes she will be cremated and a memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the Max Creek Baptist Church, 3000 Old Rt. 100 Road, Draper, VA, with Pastor Mike Coleman officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made to Carilion Hospice in order to assist them with the exceptional care and service that they provide to those in need of their help.
