Obituary

Linda Diann Nelson, 69, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024, at her home in Hiwassee surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wendell D. and Helen Hall Nelson; and sister, Carol Smith. Linda was an alumni of Auburn High School in Riner, Va., where she had many friends in her youth. She was a remarkable woman who loved her family, her pets, and doing things like riding horses and fishing. She was a fan of old sports cars, good music, and having fun with her beloved family. Her battle with cancer was unexpected, but she faced it with courage and quiet dignity as she did every other battle she ever faced. God chose to go ahead and take her home to be with her heavenly family, but her earthly family will never forget such a kind, loving, and funny soul. She was truly a hero and inspiration to her daughters, and a best friend to all who really knew her. Her family will always miss Linda, but they find peace knowing they will see her again in a place that knows no death, only joy. Survivors include her daughters, Lisa Palm (Mark) and Brandee Nelson; stepson, Lee Hawley and stepdaughter, Michelle Hawley; grandchildren, Miranda and Jacob Franklin; siblings, Terry Nelson (Sabrina) and David Nelson (Carol Overstreet); and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Memorial services will begin at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Jude Childrens Hospital or to the American Cancer Society. The Nelson family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford. www.mullinsfuneralhome.com Visitation Saturday, May 4, 2024 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Mullins Funeral Home 120 West Main St. Radford,VA 24141 Memorial Service Saturday, May 4, 2024 12:00 PM Mullins Funeral Home 120 West Main St. Radford,VA 24141
