Displaying the depth of character and strength of spirit for which she was known throughout her life, Linda Chambers Davis died with courage and dignity in the early morning hours of August 10, 2011, at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg, Virginia. She was 78 years old. A lifelong resident of Southwest Virginia, Linda was born March 23, 1933, to Raymond and Blanche Chambers, both now deceased. She grew up in Glen Lyn, Virginia, and attended Giles County public schools. Creative and curious, free-spirited and focused, she had a sharp wit and varied intellectual interests that brought her friends and admirers from all walks of life. She loved books, good coffee, philosophical conversations, and quiet times with her children and grandchildren, all of whom she adored. Linda is survived by sons Tom, Charlie, Fred, and Ken, and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheri. At Linda's request, a formal funeral service is not being planned.
