Lillian Kessler Bondurant died peacefully in her Radford home on Wednesday March 20, 2013 surrounded by members of her loving family, including her husband of 65 years, Hix Clifton Bondurant. Bondurant of Radford; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and devoted caregiver, Karen Martin. Lil was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth K. Bondurant ; son-in-law, Richard Couch; parents, Harry W. Kessler and Lillian Cornelia Gentry Kessler Bondurant; and brothers, Harry W. Kessler, Jr. and John M. Kessler. Lil was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Hix and Lil met 70 years ago at Emory & Henry College, which was founded by the United Methodist Church in the Holston Conference. They devoted a large part of their love and labor to the college and its church. Both graduated from E&H and were later honored by the school as recipients of its honorary doctorate of Humane Letters. Lil was passionate about her church family. She served on many boards at the church, taught Sunday school, and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Grove United Methodist Women and at various times served as president of the Wytheville District. In 1975 she was elected the president of the Holston Conference United Methodist Women. She served as a delegate to the church conferences multiple times and was a delegate to the world Methodist conference in Honolulu in 1980. She loved to travel with her husband. The best parts of her travels were the people that she met along the way. Lil took a great and genuine interest in people. She enjoyed being a part of their lives and was fascinated by every person that she met. She was an amazingly warm woman who touched people's hearts with her grace and her love. Community and family were at the core of Lil's beliefs. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 24, 2013 at 2:30 pm at the Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Gina Rhea and Rev.
