Levada Estelle Houck Garber, 84, of Christiansburg, passed away Friday, June 10, 2011 at the New River Valley Medical Center. She was a member of the West Radford Church of God and was retired from Catherines Beauty Shop in Christiansburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. John G. and Mary Smith Houck, and her husband, Charles Fred Garber. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Jeff Day of Shawsville, VA., granddaughter, Ashley Gail Day, brother, Rev. Kenneth Houck of Trinity, Fla., and special friend, Martha Ballard of Salem. A special thanks goes to those who cared for her in her last days: Lisa G., RN with Carilion Hospice, Thomas K., Sharon Crane, Dr. Tina Smuz, Kerry McGraff N.P., the Medical Care Unit at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, Amy Watson, Majovi Heath and Debbie Gore. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 13, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the West Radford Church of God with the Rev. Ken Hall officiating. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Church of God Childrens Home, Cleveland, Tenn. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday at the West Radford Church of God.
