Obituary

Lee Wysor Thompson, Jr., 66, passed away Monday, December 1, 2014 at his home in Pulaski. He was retired from N & S Railroad and a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Pulaski. He was a U. S. Army veteran having served in Vietnam. Lee was trained in October 2011 to drive a school bus for Pulaski County. He loved driving for the sports teams and worked with and drove the bus for the special needs students. Lee was a member of AM Vets Post #50, American Legion Post #58 and was Post Commander of VFW Post #6000 in Narrows. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee W., Sr. and Elsie Thompson, and two sisters, Billie Gravely and Joann Dickerson. Survivors include his wife, Barbara S. Thompson of Pulaski; stepchildren, Terry (Melissa) Smith, Teresa (Craig) Thomas and Tena Burton; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; daughter, Jessica Renee Akers and her husband Adam of Bastian; sister, Joyce Crigger of Pulaski; many nieces and nephews; and many friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin where members of VFW Post #6000 will conduct military graveside rites. The Thompson family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
