Katherine Farmer Gilmore, 91, of Radford, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015. She was a member of Carter Street United Methodist Church where she was a Carter Street Quilter for 35 years. Katherine was the daughter of the late Guy C. Farmer and Alice Otey Farmer Cromer. She married Russell Allen Gilmore on December 27, 1940 who preceded her in death in 1999. She retired from Montgomery Ward after 24 years as credit manager. She was also preceded in death by half brother, Darrell Cromer. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Guy and Donna Gilmore of Radford, and Gary and Garnet Gilmore of Va. Beach; daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Ron Miller of Hudson, OH; grandchildren and spouses, Chad and Annette Gilmore, Laura and Michael Robinson, Kelly and Troy Schelling, Kimberly and Chris Guinness and Adam Gilmore; half brother, Guy and Louise Farmer, Jr. of Palm City, FL; half sister, Mary Jane Akers of Dublin; and numerous other relatives. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Cockram officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery in Radford. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00 pm at the church.
