Karen Lucille Hedge Akers, age 57, of Radford, Va., passed away September 23, 2016 at the New River Valley Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Thurman and Chrystiline Mathena Hedge; sister, Janie H. Brightwell; brother, Jimmy Hedge and grandson, Cooper Shaw. She is survived by her son, Thurman Hunter Eades of Radford; daughter, Chrystal Rae Hedge of New Castle; grandchildren, Elijah, Landon, Walker and Lilly; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Larry Hollins of Dublin, Ruby and Dewey Thompson of Concord, NC, and Becky Elmore of New Castle; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
