Joseph Merlin Wood passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at his home in Dublin. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Rufus and Stella Mae Underwood Wood, brother, Alden Wood, and sister, Claudine Belcher. Joe is survived by his wife, Ellen B. Wood; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Nelene Wood of Christiansburg; sisters and brother-in-law, Lorna Conner of Meadows of Dan and Ruth and Roddy Martin of Abingdon; and many nieces, nephews, dear friends and wonderful neighbors. The family would like to express their love and thanks to special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roger and Dougie Bolt and nephew and his wife, Calvin and Frances Rorrer for their never ending love and support. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 21, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Paul Goshorn officiating. American Legion Post #58 will conduct military rites at the funeral home. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:00 Noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Joe's memory be made to Mt. View Methodist Church, 6648 Wilderness Road, Dublin, VA 24084.
