Joseph Turner Warren, 85, of Radford, VA, died at his home, Wednesday, July 1, 2009, after a long illness. He was born in Delaplane, VA on September 8, 1923, son of the late Maysie Hatcher Warren and Joseph Tucker Warren. His early education was at Christchurch School, VA and later at Virginia Military Institute. He was a veteran of World War II. One of the first people in the engineering training program, he managed virtually every level in the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation, and retired as Director of Operations. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anne Stover Warren and a brother, James Morris Warren. Survivors include his wife, Mabbot Perkins Warren of Radford; a son, Joseph Warren Jr. and his wife Helen Cardwell of Franklin, KY; a daughter Mary Anne Diehl and her husband Edward Diehl of Richmond, VA; two stepchildren David Ridout of Radford; Robin Borkowski of Savannah, GA; Also, surviving are his three grandchildren Christopher Warren, Jennifer Valerga and Mark Harmon and his wife Sara. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2009 at The Presbyterian Church of Radford with Rev. David Dickerson officiating. The Warren family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
