Joseph Raymond Nobert Hoyt, 90, of Radford passed away Friday, May 31, 2024. He was a member of Saint Jude Catholic Church and served in the Knights of Columbus. Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Martha (OQuinn) and his parents Raymond Willis and Catherine Nobert Hoyt; his in-laws, Leo and Grace OQuinn; as well as his brothers and sisters, Bert (Genevieve) Hoyt, Lillian (Warren) Hamer, Ancilla (Frank) Natale, Inez (Tony) Natale, Cyr Natale, Laurence Hoyt, James Hoyt, and Lucille Hahn; and brothers and sisters-in-laws, Joseph Garrison, Martin OQuinn, Frances (Loretta) OQuinn/Aucoin, Marie OQuinn, Diane OQuinn, Betty (Brian) Duffy, and Teresa (Irby) Grayson. Survivors include his children, Ray (Cindy) Hoyt, Howard (Elaine) Hoyt, Michelle (Bob) Saunders, Beverly (Basil) Edwards, and Stephen Hoyt; 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; sister, Jeanette Hoyt Garrison and, sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Lou Hoyt, Marie (Bert) Alexander, Cora (Dave) Bedo, Linda (Bill) Abbott, Genny (Gerry) OQuinn/Aucoin, Garry (Agnes) OQuinn/Aucoin, Ronnie OQuinn, Clyde (Sandra) OQuinn, and Raymond (Cecilia) OQuinn; and many extended family members. Ray is also survived by many friends whom he considered as family. Ray was devoted to his family, friends, community, and his faith in God - he led a full life. As a young man, Ray served in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Stephenville, Newfoundland where he met his cherished wife, Martha. After being released from the military, he returned home and trained to be a draftsman at Mondell Institute in NYC and then attended Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. In 1960, he relocated his young family to Radford, VA with Inland Motor. He had a prosperous career. Advancing steadily, he ascended to the role of President within Inland Motor, culminating in his retirement in 1992 as a Senior Vice President at Kollmorgen Corporation. Following retirement, he resumed his association with Kollmorgen as a consultant. Ray was also very active in the community. He was named Radfords business person of the year in 1993; he was a former Radford Chamber of Commerce president; and served as a trustee for Carilion Health Systems, Radford University Foundation, and Radford Community Health Foundation. Ray and Martha enjoyed traveling around the world. But he stated that his favorite place to be was home surrounded by family and friends. Visitation will be held at St. Judes Catholic Church located at 1740 Tyler Road in Christiansburg on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 9:30am with a Catholic burial Mass beginning at 10:00am.
