John Wesley Shelburne, Sr., 75, of Boones Mill, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Rachel Shelburne. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Barbara Kirk Shelburne; son and daughter-in-law, John Wesley Jr. and Dana Shelburne; daughters and son-in-law, Sharon Shelburne Gandy, and Catherine and Thomas Howard; 8 grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, James and Debbie Shelburne; sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Duke Long, Mary and James Saunders, Anne and Joe Nester, Linda Shelburne, Rita and Robert Beckner, and Debbie and Barry ODell; and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2018 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Elwood Cox officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin.
