John Herman "Terry" Manns, 79, of New River, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Garfield and Hattie Laconia Manns; and his siblings, James G. Manns, Jr., Christine M. Hopkins, Lillian Valentine, Andrew J. Manns, Betty M. Casey, Nenzerine M. Lewis, and Elizabeth Casey. Survivors include his sons, James Erwin Manns and John Manns; granddaughter, Sopheia; sisters, Flossie Brown, and Ava Pope; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Caroline Manns; best friend, Theodo Saunders; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 23, 2023, from 12 until 1 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist in New River, 7318 Manns Dr, New River, VA 24129. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Monte Brown officiating. Burial with full military honors will take place in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin at 3 p.m. following the service.
