Obituary

John Herbert Loar, 90, of Radford, passed away Monday, April 20, 2009. He was retired from New River Textiles with 42 years of service and a U. S. Marine veteran having served during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife Georgia Elizabeth Young Loar, his parents Gratton and Essie Linkous Loar, a brother, Oscar Loar, and four sisters Virginia Creasey, Arta Lee Loar, Libby Loar and Betty Walters. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Roger Bishop of Radford; a granddaughter and her husband, Robin and Chad Fisher of Radford; a great-grandson, Cade Fisher; and two sisters and brother-in-law, Hattie Moore of Christiansburg and Della Pete and Ray Caldwell of Roanoke. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the West View Cemetery in Radford where members of V. F. W. Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites. Rev. Layne Board will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. The Loar family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
