Obituary

John William Linkous, 84, of New River, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Susan Linkous, his beloved brother, Lewis D. Linkous, and a special aunt, Loise Divers. John enjoyed working in his church and carpentry work. He retired from Lynchburg Foundry as a pattern maker. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Ilectris Linkous, daughter, Cheri LaPrade; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Chad Duncan; grandchildren, Jacob and Alex LaPrade, and Cole and Mallory Duncan; one great grandchild, Abel LaPrade; sister-in-law, Becky Linkous; close cousin, Phyllis Weiss; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Morgans Chapel UMC with Rev. Ginny Thompkins and Dr. Fred Austin officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Burial Park in Radford. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Morgans Chapel UMC, c/o Buddy Sutton, 7572 Jackson Ave., Radford, VA 24141 or the Hendricks Marrow Program, 4400 Papa Joe Hendricks Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28262. The Linkous family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
