Joe Daniel Simpkins, 73, of Christiansburg, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2015 at his home in Montgomery County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lemon Benny and Christaleen Viers Simpkins. He was a retired employee of the Lynchburg Foundry. Survivors include his loving wife Carolyn Semones Simpkins; sons and daughter-in-law, Joseph Kapalaka, and Greg and Sandy Perdue; brothers and sisters-in-law, George T. and Malieta Simpkins of Snowville, Avery and Shirley Simpkins of Fairlawn, J.D. Simpkins of Radford, and Brady and Judith Simpkins of Fairlawn; sisters, Taxi Fagg of Snowville, and Eva ODell of Hiwassee; and special niece, Rita Hamblin. A memorial gathering will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
