Jimmy Joe Barton, 62 of Radford, passed away Monday, September 28, 2009 at the New River Valley Medical Center. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Era having served in the US Air Force as a mechanic on the F105 and was based at Takhli Air Force Base in Thailand. He was a lifelong resident of Radford and a graduate of Radford University. He was a local businessman, friend and father who was always quick with a joke and a smile. He was definitely one of a kind. He was preceded in death by his parents, Winfred Elijah and Katherine VanHoy Barton. Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Barton of Little Rock, Ark.; stepson, Darin Veasey of Vinton; sister, Linda Barton Hale of Elizabeth City, NC; two brothers and sister-in-law, Hubert C. and Stacy H. Barton and Winfred Wint Earl Barton, all of Radford. Services will be private. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2009 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the V. F. W.
