Jess Willard Vaughn, 90, passed away Monday, June 26, 2006 at his home in Radford. He was a member of the Radford Worship Center and a U. S. Army Air Corp veteran having served during WWII. He worked for many years in retail sales at Leggetts and Garretts in Radford. He was born June 23, 1916, the son of the late Ulyss and Maude Loving Vaughn. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Adam Vaughn Craighead. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Madalon Rodgers Vaughn of Radford; a daughter, Sandy V. Craighead of Radford; a son and daughter-in-law, Alan Vaughn and Debra Lynn Gold of Atlanta, GA; a son-in-law, Dewey Craighead of Spring, TX; and two grandsons, Brian Craighead of Spring, TX and Tom Vaughn and his wife, Betsy Sharon of Silver Springs, MD; and a great-grandson, Alexander Vaughn. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 1, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Dr. Hal Adams, Dr. Donald C. Elliott, Rev. Glennard Quesenberry and Rev. Cecil Albano officiating. Interment will follow in the Pentecostal Conference Cemetery in Dublin where members of VFW Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Radford Worship Center Outreach Ministries, 1820 Second Street, Radford, VA 24141. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
