Jay Bishop Hawkins, Jr., 66, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 at his home in Newport with his wife by his side. He was preceded in death by his father, Jay Bishop Hawkins, Sr. Survivors include his wife, Cathey Rae Hawkins of Newport; mother, Vertie Farmer Hawkins of Radford; sister, Barbara Shaw of Christiansburg; children, Stephen Hawkins of Hodgenville, KY, Dorita Hawkins of Salem, Dale Tinley of Frederica, DEL, Kim Beasley of Salem, Cecil Jay Hawkins of Pulaski, Amanda Bratcher of Elizabethtown, KY, and John Hawkins of Morehead, KY; step-daughters, Jennifer Hayes of Clarksville, TN and Janice Huskey of Hodgenville, KY; 24 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Walton Pentecostal Holiness Church, 4003 Morning Glory Drive, Radford with Rev. Lee Sarver officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Good Samaritan Hospice or to his wife Cathey to help defer the funeral costs.
