Obituary

Janice Meredith Covey, 90, formerly of Radford, died peacefully at her daughter's home, Saturday morning, March 23, 2013, in Avon, Connecticut. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred E. Covey. Janice was the youngest of nine children born to Ernest and Grace Meredith of Snowville, Virginia. She was a long time resident of Radford, Virginia, and was employed for over 36 years at Radford Army Ammunition Plant as a telephone operator and receptionist. Janice was a member of Grove United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Michael Covey, of Radford, Virginia, a daughter, Jan Covey Reed, and her husband, Jim (Skip), of Avon, Connecticut, two grandchildren, Mark Reed and wife, Paradis, of Seattle, Washington, and Meredith Reed Holzer and her husband, Patrick, of Birmingham, Alabama, as well as five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank her doctor, Dr. Paul Guardino, the McLean Hospice team, and her longtime caregiver, Lilieth Brown, for their kind and compassionate care. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Grove United Methodist Church, Radford, Virginia, with visitation for family and friends at 10:30 AM. Immediately following the service, entombment will be held at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Grove United Methodist Church, Radford, Virginia. The Covey family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford, Virginia.
