James Edward Whitlock, 84, of Christiansburg, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and retired from RAAP where he was a painter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Thomas and Pansy Elizabeth Hoover Whitlock and his wife, Marita. Survivors include his son, Jimmy Whitlock of Radford; daughter Mary Cromer of Radford; grandchildren, Albert Jackson Cromer, Matthew Lee Cromer, Adam N. Whitlock, and Rebecca Ann Whitlock Boothe; great grandchildren, Posey and Jaqueline Boothe; and sisters and brother-in-law, Viola "Dot" and Marshall Ellis, and Annie Lorene "Sissy" Whitlock. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 7:00 pm at the Mullins Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Watkins officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 5:00 pm. Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Den Hill Cemetery in Shawsville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Den Hill Cemetery Upkeep Fund, c/o Gabriel Graham, 435 Dunlap Drive, Christiansburg, Va 24073.
