James Larry Powers passed away May 21, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Rosa Powers and a son, James Larry, Jr. Jim served his country in the U. S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He was a Dublin police officer, Chief of Police at Radford College and a corrections officer at Bland, Floyd, Dublin and Richmond. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Lila Sheppard Powers; two sons, Freddie and Lisa Powers, and Eric and Jennifer Powers; 5 grandchildren; sister, Carol Hughes; and brothers, Aubrey and Marvin Powers. The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with Rev. Michael Collins officiating.
