James Maynard "Fiddle Man" Phillips, 88, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at his home in Fairlawn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Phillips; parents, Roy and Stella Phillips; sisters, Gretchen (Pauline) Phillips and Kate P. Harris; and nephew, Roger Harris.
Survivors include his sister, Nancy P. Mitchell of Radford; special niece and caregiver and nephew, Susie and Cecil Lytton; nieces and nephews, Katherine and Larry Zehner of Christiansburg, and Brenda and Douglas Higgs of Christiansburg, and Philip and Debbie Harris of Locust Grove; many cousins and music friends at River City Grill, especially Tim Pakledinaz.
The family would like to thank Intrepid Hospice for all their loving care. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with Rev. T. Michael Bond and Rev. James Walker officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Intrepid Hospice.
