James Jim Vinton Covey, Jr., 64 of Radford, passed away Friday, October 24, 2008. He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran and retired from Lynchburg Foundry. He was preceded in death by his parents James, Sr. and Blanche Covey, two sisters Frances Umberger and Brenda Covey, and a grandson, Michael Todd Covey, Jr. Survivors include his wife Betty Vicars Covey of Radford; three sons and daughters-in-law James, III and Ruth Covey of Henderson, Nevada, and Michael Todd Covey and Brian Keith and Tanya Covey, all of Radford; three grandchildren Seth, Briana and Tiffany Covey; two brothers and sister-in-law, Randy Covey and Johnny and Rose Covey, both of Pulaski; a sister Sharon Covey of Draper; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Ersell Alderman and Rev. Alan Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in the West View Cemetery in Radford where VFW Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12 Noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the American Heart Association, Western Virginia, 4504 Starkey Road, SW, Suite 115, Roanoke, VA 24014.
