Obituary

James Booker Childress, 89, of Christiansburg, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2009. He was a former employee of Lynchburg Foundry and a U. S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Childress. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Douglas Carter of Christiansburg; two sons, James Richard Childress of Christiansburg and Benny Dale Childress of Shawsville; several step-children; two sisters, Sue Ellen Childress of Dublin and Gaynelle Coffey of Ohio; three grandchildren and one great grandson; several nieces and nephews; and a special cat, Winky. Memorial services will be held Monday, September 28, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Michael Sweeney officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to your favorite charity. The Childress family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
