Obituary

Iris Rupe Marshall, born July 4, 1918, went into the arms of Jesus on Friday, June 21, 2013. Mrs. Marshall was the daughter of Eldridge M Rupe, an early businessman and entrepreneur in Radford whose store building still stands in the west end of Radford off of Second Avenue. She was a faithful pastor's wife serving alongside her husband at Max Creek Baptist Church for 37 years. She was educated at Fincastle and Radford High Schools. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 62 years, Rev. Robert Marshall, son, Dan Marshall, and grandson, Chris Marshall, parents, Mary Hall and Eldridge M. Rupe, brother, Max C. Rupe and sisters, Gladys Wirt and Daphne Wirt. Survived by children, Betty Sink of Lincoln, NE, Tim Marshall and his wife Dottie of Old Hickory, TN; daughter-in-law, Eunice O. Marshall of Radford; grandchildren and their spouses, Debby and Dean Hodges, Penny Marshall, Keith and Lisa Marshall, Steve Marshall, Robin and Ted Eschliman, Perry and Laura Marshall, and Bryan Sink; and great-grandchildren, Hunter, Madeline, Susanna and Justice Marshall, Tannah, Cuyler, Caden, Zander and Zoe Sink, and Nicole Eschliman. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 24, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Brian Cockram officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to The Gideons International, P. O. Box 923, Radford, VA 24143-0923. The Marshall family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
