Herman George Oakley, Jr., 79, of Radford, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the New River Valley Medical Center. He retired from RAAP and was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman George, Sr. and Agnes Doss Oakley, a sister, Frances Webb and a brother, Erroll Thompson. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Colleen Annie Oakley; two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Kathy Oakley, and Greg and Patty Oakley; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Eddie Harris; seven grandchildren, Caitlin and Logan Oakley, Lauren, Matt and Josh Oakley, and Megan and Zach Harris; a sister, Kathleen Graham; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Frankie Graham officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
