Obituary

Hazel Fields Young of Radford, Va. passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2019. Hazel was retired from Radford Community Hospital where she used her gift, as a Registered Nurse, to serve the community she loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Hallie Fields; her sisters, Lorene "Brownie" Davis and Lillian Fields; and her loving husband, Herman H. Young. Survivors include her sons, David B. Young of Alpharetta, Ga. and Philip W. Young of Pembroke, Va.: daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Barry Moore of Radford; a special daughter, Rita Chavis and her husband Murray of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; grandchildren include Megan Young of Amherst, Mass., Samantha Peters and husband Daniel of Mount Pleasant, S.C., Brad Young of Colorado Springs, Col. and Madison Young of Charlottesville, Va. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until noon at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral service will begin at noon with the Reverend Wendy Wilson officiating. Graveside services will follow in West View Cemetery in Radford. The family would like to thank Commonwealth Senior Living Radford for their compassionate care over the last eight years she lived there and Medi Hospice for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Unity Christian Church, 400 Tyler Avenue Radford, VA 24141 of where Hazel was a member.
