Obituary

Harry Douglas Saul, 73, of Fairlawn, passed away at the Carilion New River Valley Medical Center on Friday, January 28, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was a member of Max Creek Baptist Church and retired from Lynchburg Foundry. He also served his country in the U. S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Richard and Mary Ida Martin Saul, sisters, Betty and Edith, and brothers Carmel Chocolate and James. Survivors include his wife Zula Shelton Saul of Fairlawn; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Robin Saul, and Todd and Teresa Saul, all of Dublin; a stepson and his wife, William and Lisa of Radford; grandsons Brandon, Jarrad and Tye Saul; stepgrandsons Christopher Beach and Justin Hancock; sisters and brother-in-law Lottie Erickson of Radford and Irene and Kenneth Clapp of Dublin; special nephew and his wife, Tommy and Linda Dobbins; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the ICU unit at the New River Valley Medical Center for their compassion and support, Dr. Matthew Kaatz, Dr. Bhairvi Triedi and all the staff at the DaVita Kidney Center. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 7 pm at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Mike Coleman officiating. Members of VFW Post #776 will conduct military rites. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Max Creek Baptist Church or the charity of your choice. The Saul family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
