Harold Frank "Sonny" Nester, Sr., 74, of Parrott, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C. Harold proudly served in the U. S. Air Force for 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Macy Nester; sister, Maxine Demers; brother, Lewis Nester; and grandson, Cameron Fitzwater. Survivors include his wife, Mary A. "Cissy" Nester of Parrott; children and their spouses, Sonia and Jon Fitzwater of Dublin, Katrina and Joe Hill of N.C., Harold Frank, Jr. and Phyllis Nester of Parrott, Cassandra and Matt East of Parrott, Brandy Albert of Dublin, and Duane and Paula Ogle of Pembroke; self adopted son, Travis and Tasha Cox of Radford; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and a brother, 3 sisters and many close friends. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. with Pastor Eddie Dalton officiating. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016 at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin.
