Harman Noblin Akers, Sr., 76, of the Brooklyn section of Fairlawn, went to his Heavenly home, Wednesday, February 16, 2011. He was at his home with Elizabeth, his wife of 57 years, by his side. He was a 60+ year member of Rockford United Methodist Church and retired from Volvo. He was born February 27, 1934 in Radford the son of Hobert Asa and Roberta Gay Ratcliffe Akers. Survivors include his wife Elizabeth W. Akers of Radford; daughter Martha and son-in-law Glenn Quesenberry of Radford, son Harman Jr. and daughter-in-law Vicky of Dublin, and daughter Sheila and son-in-law Andrew Hamblin of Radford; seven grandchildren Jessica and husband Michael Hall of Dublin, Glenn Quesenberry II of Christiansburg, Joshua Akers and wife Heather of Dublin, Jeffery Quesenberry and wife Autumn of Radford, Susan Hamblin of Pulaski, and Tony and Maranda Hamblin of Radford; six great-grandchildren Austin and Ryan Hall, Makenzie Quesenberry, Mary Beth Duncan, Kyleigh Akers and Dakoda Harrison; two step great-grandchildren Isaac Harris and Austin Younce; brother Charlie Akers and wife Shirley of Barren Springs; and brothers-in-law Bill Galt of Mooresville, Indiana and Calvin Hong of Banning, California. The family would like to thank caregivers Debra, Martie, Donna and Lisa, and all members of the hospice team. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 18, 2011 at 11 am at the Rockford United Methodist Church in Radford with Pastor Darlene Marshall and Rev. Ernest Chinault officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm Thursday evening at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
