Obituary

Grover Lee Hamilton was born March 11, 1927 at his home in Parrott, where he and his family had lived his entire life. Grover had grown tired and weary, so the Lord called him home to a beautiful place to rest on March 21, 2012. In his last days he was happily surrounded by his family. Grover worked hard all his life as a horse farrier, for the coal mines, as a dairyman, and he retired from the Radford Arsenal in 1989 after 33 years of service. He also carved wood, a skill he learned from his father. Grover loved his family and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Grover was predeceased by his wife, Lucie Long Hamilton his parents, Prince and Gladys Hamilton, three brothers, two sisters, and a son-in-law, Timm Blackburn. He will be sadly missed by a son and daughter-in-law, John and Jessica Tuck of Morristown, TN; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Thomas Lytton, and Penny and Tommy Sullivan, all from Christiansburg; daughter, Robin Blackburn of Radford; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Tony Miano of Radford; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends. Daddy and PawPaw --- a strong, quiet man whom we loved and will miss! Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Darlene Marshall and Rev. Jim Gholsom officiating. Interment will be in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. The Hamilton family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
