Goldie Hamblin Roan, 73 of Parrott, passed away Monday, February 25, 2008 at her home. She was a member of the Parrott Church of God and retired inspector with Klopman Mills. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Austin Roan. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Pete and Debra Roan of Dublin; three daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Dennis Hamblin and Katie and Garnett Reed, both of Dublin, and Niese and Randy Counts of Parrott; adopted son, Tony Turpin of Parrott; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Alfreda Hamblin of Pulaski and Carl and Rita Hamblin of Christiansburg; sister Mary Turpin of Parrott; eight grandchildren and their spouses Tracy and PJ Tremblay, Ashlea and Matt Rostine, Aaron and Jessica Hamblin, Lindsey Reed, Micha Hamblin, Matt and Mallory Roan, Mandy Reed and Helen Counts; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 29, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parrott Church of God with Rev. Edward Dalton officiating. Interment will follow in the Sifford Cemetery in Parrott. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Parrott Church of God Youth Fund, PO Box 97, Parrott, VA 24132.
