Obituary

Glendon Earl Bentley, Sr., 76, of Radford, VA, passed away Friday, January 2, 2009 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Mr. Bentley served in the US Army and was also a Life Member of the VFW Post #776 and the American Legion. He was a retired mechanic from Dick Price Ford and was employed at Advance Auto. He was preceded in death by his parents Ross and Eva Mumm Bentley and eight siblings. He was a devoted husband of fifty-one years and father. He is survived by his wife, Joan Bentley and children Glendon Jr. and wife Linda Christine of Rowlett, Texas; Timothy and wife Tammy of Richfield, Minnesota; Colleen and friend Cecil of Pulaski, Virginia; Jeff and wife Becky of Mocksville, North Carolina; Bruce and wife Susan of Salem, Virginia. Brother, Ross Bentley of Tuscan, AZ; three sisters, Marilyn Cymbolk of Wisconsin; Ruth Bentley of Connecticut; Virginia Tiny Hazelton of Vermont; also surviving are fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Thank you to special family friend John Austin, Teresa Hall and children T.J., Samantha and Erika and Chris McRoberts. In lieu of flowers contribution may be made to V.F.W. # 776 c/o Gary Harris 1303 Wadsworth Street Radford, VA 24141 Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Mullins Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Webster officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin with V.F.W. #776 will conducting Military Rites. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The Bentley family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
