Gladys Early Boyd, 84, of Radford, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, August 7, 2012. She took her journey with her children by her side. She was a member of Abba's House and Worship Center and a longtime member of the Church of God of Prophecy. She was in the field of nursing at St. Albans Psychiatric Hospital for over 40 years. She was preceded in death by her parents Arnold and Annie Bess Early and her husband Fred Leechman Boyd. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald D. and Alma Wright Boyd of Troutville; daughter Donna Gail Boyd of Radford; two grandchildren and their spouses, Rev. Robbie Austin and Mindy Boyd of Troutville, and Ashley Reagan-Boyd and Dan Lucas of Fincastle; great grandchild, Isabelle Reagan Lucas; brother-in-law Foster Clayton Boyd of Radford; and an aunt Marie Boyd Jackson; former sister-in-law Audrey B. Knepper; nieces and other family members too numerous to mention; and extended family including Phyllis Besseler, Faith Gill, Regina Smith, Marie Pruitt and Carlin Barbetti. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Conatser and his office staff, NRV Carilion Hospice and Dr. Tina Smusz, Dr. Janet Bechtel and staff, and all their good neighbors. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with son Dr. Ronald D. Boyd and Rev. Joyce Greer officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm Friday evening at the funeral home.
