Gerald Albert Roop, 85, passed away at his home in Dublin on Monday, October 12, 2015. He was a longtime member of Dublin Baptist Church. Gerald retired from the State of Virginia where he was a State Trooper for 10 years and a SCC Investigator for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Beatrice Roop, and his loving wife, Darlene Pearl Hollandsworth Roop. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Linda Roop of Radford, and Malcolm and Connie Roop of Sharpsburg, Ga.; grandchildren, Kevin, Stephanie and Kristina; great grandson, Shane A. Roop; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Dublin Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the church.
