Genevie Johns Slone, 93, of Radford, passed away Friday, February 15, 2013. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvel R. Slone, son, Michael Shepard, parents, Joseph E. and Naomi Holcomb Johns, sisters, Leo Wills and Muriel Tyler, and brothers, Ercil and Lester Johns. Survivors include stepdaughters, Betty S. East and her husband Walter and Barbara S. Gray and her husband Wayne, all of Roanoke, and Evelyn S. Clark and her husband Vince, of Radford; stepsons, Douglas Slone and his wife Charlene of Radford and Noel Slone and his wife Sharon of Abingdon; sister, Dorma O'Dell of Charleston, WVa; sister-in-law, Madoline Johns of Livermore, CA; 10 step grandchildren; 20 step great-grandchildren; special nephew and his wife, Bill and Rosie Wills of Pulaski; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 18, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Pastor Don Shelor officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Central UM Church, 803 Wadsworth Street, Radford, VA 24141.
