Obituary

Geneva Cole Kesling, 94 of Radford and formally of Dobson, NC, died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at the Highland Ridge Rehab Center in Dublin. She was the wife of the late James L. Kesling, Jr. She was born in Radford on April 26, 1914 the daughter of the late Richard A. and Carrie Smith Cole. In addition to her parents and husband, Geneva was also preceded in death by a son Richard Aulden Kesling, a daughter-in-law, Patricia B. Kesling, three brothers, Richard, William R. and Maynard Cole, and one sister, Nancy Cole Simpkins. Geneva and her husband were restaurant owners in Radford for many years and in retirement she enjoyed working at the Greyhound Flea Market in Mr. Airy, NC. She is survived by a son James L. Kesling, III (Jim) of Dublin; a daughter Doris Kesling of Christiansburg; three grandsons Richard A. Kesling (Donna) of Pulaski, Robert C. Kesling (Rose) of Radford and Ken A. Kesling (Michelle) of Pulaski; one granddaughter Richelle Loughlin (Drew) of Weehawken, NJ; five great-grandsons Nat, Cody, Keith and Josh Kesling, and Andrew Loughlin; one great-granddaughter Alexander Loughlin; a nephew John R. Cole; and two nieces Pat Wall (Doug) and Catherine Cox. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and caregivers at Highland Ridge Rehab Center for the excellent care given to Geneva. A Graveside service will be held Friday, September 19, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sunrise Burial Park in Radford with Rev. Gina Rhea officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. The Kesling family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
