Gene Richard Deeds, Sr., 75 of Radford, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2008. He was a proud U. S. Marine veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and retired from RAAP in 1989. He was a 1950 graduate of Huntington East High School. He was born June 26, 1932 in Huntington, WV the son of the late Stanley Davis and Dorothy Russell Deeds. Survivors include his wife Janet Montgomery Deeds of Radford; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Allen Hatten of Huntington, WV and Aimee and Barry Flora of Mosely; two sons and daughter-in-law, Gene R. Deeds, Jr. of Radford and Devin and Robbin Deeds of Belspring; a brother Ronald Deeds of Huntington, WV; two sisters Barbara Washington Of Huntington, WV and Sandra Jarrell of Salt Rock, WV; six grandchildren Derek, Dakota, Konner, Ema, Joshua and Justin; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Darlene Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin where VFW Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Deeds family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
