Gary Lynn Atkinson, 62, of Radford, passed away Monday, October 31, 2016 at his daughters home in Roanoke. He was retired from VDOT and a member of Unity Christian Church. Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Rutrough Atkinson and his son, Nathan Ezra Atkinson. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Mariah Atkinson and West Robison of Roanoke; father, Maurice "Moose" Atkinson of Radford; grandson, Wake Robison; and special canine companion, Liberty. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11 a.m. on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Unity Christian Church in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Wendy Wilson officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Unity Christian Church, 400 Tyler Ave., Radford, VA 24141.
