Fred Leechman Boyd, 88, of Radford, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2011. He was a member of Radford Christian Church and a U. S. Air Force veteran having served during WWII. He was a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Albans Psychiatric Hospital for over 40 years. His passions included hunting, fishing, camping, excursions to McDonalds and Claytor Lake and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Foster and Versie Phillips Boyd. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Gladys Early Boyd of Radford; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald D. and Alma Wright Boyd of Troutville; daughter Donna Gail Boyd of Radford; two grandchildren and their spouses, Rev. Robbie Austin and Mindy Boyd of Lynchburg, and Ashley Reagan-Boyd and Dan Lucas of Fincastle; great grandchild, Isabelle Reagan Lucas; brother Foster Clayton Boyd of Radford; and an aunt, nieces and other family members too numerous to mention. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Conatser and his office staff, and all their good neighbors. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 11 am at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Bishop Charles R. Russell and his son Dr. Ronald D. Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park where VFW Post # 776 will conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm Friday evening at the funeral home. The Boyd family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
