Elena Benavides Casas, 95, of Dublin, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. Elena was born in Matanzas, Cuba, the daughter of the late Francisco and Laudelina Benavides. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Giordano R. Casas; daughter, Maria Elena Casas Rainey; and a sister, Berta de Rojas. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Layda Casas Hamblin of Dublin, Esther Casas Johnson (B.J.) of Greensboro, N.C., Giordano J. Casas (Susan) of Naperville, Ill., and Carlota Casas Urban (Kevin) of Fairfax Station; son-in-law, John R. Rainey of Batesville; 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; sister, Olga B. Oliva of Tampa, Fla.; and many other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1740 Tyler Rd, Christiansburg, VA. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park in Radford. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Elenas name to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
