Edward Hays Zeigler, Jr., 66, of Radford, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2007. He was born on James Island, S.C. and was raised in Columbia, S.C. He graduated from Georgia Tech University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering . He was a Captain in The United States Army and was stationed in The United States and Germany. He was a Senior Scientist for Hercules, Inc. and Alliant Techsystems in Radford. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Lynne Christine Zeigler of Radford, his son, Jeffrey Allen Zeigler; his mother, Margaret Lawson Zeigler of West Columbia, S.C.; his brother, Robert Lawson Zeigler of Burns, Oregon; two sisters-in-law and their spouses, Gloria and Walter Smith of Ocala, Florida; and Carol and Bob Waser of Washington D.C. as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Edward Hays Zeigler, Sr. A wonderfully kind, patient, and giving man, Hays will be missed greatly by his family and many friends but will remain in our hearts and minds forever. A memorial service will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Mullins Funeral Home with Rev. Lara Gentry officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society: 2316 Atherholt Road Lynchburg, VA 24501. The Zeigler family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
