Dr. Ernesto Milla Cube, 90, of Radford, Virginia passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022. Ernie was born in Tarlac, Philippines. He was preceded in death by his parents Rogelio and Encarnacion Cube; and four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirl; his daughters, Mimi Ridpath (Mark) and Rosanne Tickle (Steve); granddaughter, Marlee Barboza (Patrick); grandsons, Miller Ridpath and Merritt Ridpath; and many nieces and nephews. Ernie was an instructor and Chief of Staff in the Department of Ophthalmology at Vanderbilt University, the Veterans Hospital, and Nashville General Hospital prior to starting his eye practice in Radford in 1963. Dr. Cube was the first Ophthalmologist in Radford and also established offices in Pulaski and Wytheville. He was a past President and a Paul Harris Fellow of the Radford Rotary Club and a long time member and deacon emeritus of First Baptist Church. Ernie loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, listening to a variety of music, playing the piano by ear, and traveling. He also enjoyed gathering friends and family together for celebrations, exploring the latest technology, cheering on his favorite basketball teams, and eating his favorite ice cream treat. He was an extremely generous and kind man, the backbone of his family. He will be profoundly missed. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m., Friday, December 2nd at First Baptist Church, Radford, Va. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Diana Farrell White and The Reverend Kent Taylor officiating. Interment will be private.
