Obituary

Douglas Arwood Altizer, 83, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at his home in Fairlawn. He was a member of the Pulaski Church of Christ and was retired after 40 years with the Virginia State Police. He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Nobie Altizer; and his sister, Carolyn Hines. Doug adored his family, his wife of 62 years, Jean Altizer; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Scott Strickland of Salem; son, Woody Altizer of Radford; grandchildren, Mindi (Nic) Bodin, Chase Altizer, Cara Altizer, Lance Strickland, Neil Strickland, and Cassie (Jeff) Snell; great grandchildren, Harper Bodin and Everett Snell; and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin.
