Obituary

Dorothy Louise Price Mabe, 89, of Fairlawn, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Highland Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 11, 1929 in Whitby, West Virginia to the late Stanley Jackson and Mildred Beatrice Price. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James Gilmer Mabe and her sister Virginia Lee Brown. She was a graduate of the Dublin High School Class of 47 and retired from St. Albans Hospital. She was a long-time and active member of Fairlawn United Methodist Church, where she served in many offices and was a member of the choir. A devoted and loving wife, mother, nana, sister, and aunt, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Anita Lynn and Dennis Reed; grandson and his wife, Thomas M. and Whitney S. Morris-Reed; her sister, Mary Stone; brother-in-law, Leland Stone; sister-in-law, Mintie Hale; and her nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Fairlawn United Methodist Church. Celebration of Life services will begin at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Miller and the Rev. Joe Mack Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to either Fairlawn UMC (7584 Brandon Road, Fairlawn, VA 24141) or to the D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA (PO Box 77, Bedford, VA 24523). The Mabe family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
