Dennis Gerald Whittaker, 69, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019 at his home in Elon, N.C. He was born in Radford, Va. the son of the late Harvey and Edith Whittaker. He was retired from Alamance Electric and a U. S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Brenda A. Whittaker; and daughter, Gerri W. Timmons. Survivors include his son, Raymond Whittaker and his girlfriend, Laura Armelio of Lexington, Mass.; sisters and brother-in-law, Teresa W. Davis of Parrott and Patricia and Don St. Clair of Pearisburg; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Janet Whittaker of Apex, N.C., Gary and Frances Whittaker of Raleigh, N. C. and John and Annie Whittaker of Parrott; grandchildren, Kendall and Alexis Timmons, and Andrew Armelio; step-grandson, Christian Morley; and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with Rev. Teresa Talbert officiating. Interment will full military honors will follow in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Pulaski Humane Society.
